Mon emprisonnement est un isolement, ma mort ferait de moi un martyr, et l’exil de mon pays serait une excursion. » Il disait dans sa prison de Qal’ah : « Si je faisais don de l’équivalent de cette Qal’ah en or, cela ne suffirait pas pour moi afin de remercier de cette situation [d’emprisonnement] » – ou il a dit : « Je n’ai pu les récompenser [les responsables de son emprisonnement] pour ce bienfait accordé. » ou des paroles similaires.

Il disait aussi dans ses prosternations en prison : « O Seigneur ! Aide-moi à invoquer Ton Nom, à Te témoigner de la
gratitude et à T’adorer parfaitement. » Mâ châ Allâh ! Il m’a dit une fois : « Le prisonnier, est celui qui est privé [prisonnier] du rappel d’Allâh ﷻ. Et le captif, est celui qui est captif de ses passions. » Et lorsqu’il entra [dans sa prison] et qu’il vit les murailles, il récita : « C’est alors qu’on éleva entre eux une muraille ayant une porte dont l’intérieur contient la miséricorde, et dont la face apparente a devant elle le châtiment [l’Enfer] » [1]

Allâh Sait que je n’ai jamais vu une personne dotée d’une aussi bonne humeur que la sienne, malgré la vie difficile et dépouillée de tout plaisir qu’il menait. Bien au contraire, celle-ci fut menée d’emprisonnement, de menaces et de harcèlements. Et pourtant avec cela, il était le meilleur parmi les gens, agréable, il gagnait les poitrines et les cœurs, le plus satisfaisant des gens, et on voyait de son visage la félicité. Lorsque nous étions pris d’une grande peur, et que les suggestions nous nous saisissaient, au point que nous ressentions que la terre se rétrécissait sur nous, nous allions à lui, et juste à le voir et à écouter ses paroles, tout cela partait de nous, et nos coeurs respiraient, et retrouvaient force, certitude et apaisement.

Gloire à Allâh ! Qui a fait témoigner [à certains] de ses adorateurs le Paradis avant de le rencontrer, et qui leur a ouvert les portes [du Paradis] dans le monde des actions, dont ils ont pu sentir son odeur et son arôme, leur donnant ainsi la force d’oeuvrer pour sa demande, et afin d’y accéder [2] [3]
